Grow Ahead Week of Action Recap: Fully Funding Farmer Success in Mexico
Thank you for joining Grow Ahead for our first ever Week of Action! Your involvement was key to creating a meaningful week focused on uplifting small-scale farmers and advancing environmental resilience. Thanks to our incredible donors and sponsors, we successfully raised enough funds to fully support the 'Seed Saving and Reforestation in Mexico' project!
How Your Generosity and Support Made a Difference:
Fully Funding Seed Saving and Reforestation in Mexico
During Grow Ahead's Week of Action, you raised enough money to fully fund the project, Seed Saving and Reforestation in Mexico! Farmers and community members in Campeche, Mexico will benefit from 25,000 new trees and supporting plants over 620 acres. Grow Ahead’s implementation partner, Ka' Kuxtal Much Meyaj, works in harmony with the environment and will contribute to the ecological balance across the Hopelchen region by planting seedlings of 14 varieties of regional trees and plants. This project not only restores degraded lands but also enhances farmers’ resilience by diversifying their incomes through cash crops and strengthening food security.
Educating Advocates
Each of the four Week of Action webinars shared inspiring stories of farmers, indigenous forest defenders, and responsible businesses, bringing hope to climate and social change conversations that often feel bleak. If you missed the webinars, you can always tune in to our YouTube channel.
Reaching Greater Audiences
Sharing and engagement from our donors and sponsors allowed for Grow Ahead to reach 6,712 accounts on social media with an impressive 7.93% engagement rate. Grow Ahead Week of Action also sparked conversations with individuals not sold on the idea of climate resilience which gave us the opportunity to educate an entirely new population. Follow Grow Ahead on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn for updates on our current projects and for more information on agroforestry as a means to support farmers and save the world.
What's Next for Grow Ahead (and You)?
Throughout Grow Ahead Week of Action, supporters from around the world came together to learn, engage, and take action. The work doesn’t stop with Week of Action. Small-scale farmers still need your support to build climate resilience and food sovereignty in their communities. As we look forward to 2025, Grow Ahead is funding two more agroforestry projects that need your help.
Farmer Led Agroforestry in Mexico’s Coffee Lands
How often do you enjoy a cup of coffee? For many of us, coffee is more than just a beverage—it's a source of comfort and a daily companion. But did you know that this cherished ritual is at risk due to the devastating effects of coffee rust (La Roya) in Latin America? The Farmer Led Agroforestry Project in Mexico’s Coffee Lands will not only protect your morning cup of joe, but support 50 farmers as they rehabilitate their coffee lands. 75,000 coffee trees and supporting plants will reforest the land, provide income for farmers, and improve local biodiversity.
Regenerative Organic Agroforestry in Ivory Coast
This women led project will establish community dynamic agroforestry model farms to enhance climate resilience and diversify income sources for over 500 women farmers. Beyond planting, women farmers will also be recruited to promote leadership development and expand income opportunities. It’s important now more than ever to support women in all countries and we hope you’ll join Grow Ahead in this incredible opportunity.
