Where Women Lead, Forests Thrive
In the heart of Ivory Coast, the women of KANY Scoops are transforming their land and their lives through regenerative organic planting projects. Women do considerable work on smallholder cocoa farms, but often go unrecognized for their accomplishments. KANY has established a unique system to ensure women receive recognition for their work, even when they do not own the land. Each farm on the KANY roster must have a woman listed as its representative. If the farm is owned by a man, he is required to designate a woman—typically his wife—as the official representative. Premium payments are then deposited directly into the women’s personal accounts, ensuring their contributions are visible, valued, and fairly rewarded.
You Can Support KANY Farmers
Through our partnership with KANY (Regenerative Organic Agriculture in Ivory Coast), Grow Ahead is helping plant 35,000 trees that will support the training and livelihoods of 500 KANY farmers. Through Dynamic Agroforestry demonstration farms, KANY will also help rapidly scale out agroforestry in the region. Dynamic Agroforestry (DAF) aims to diversify farmer incomes by implementing ecological designs that are more climate resilient. As leaders in agroforestry, KANY Scoops is proving that farming can do more than feed families—it can rebuild ecosystems, improve livelihoods, and combat the climate crisis.
